Quelle est notre vision biblique de la place de l’homme ?
Au fond, qu’est-ce qui fait qu’un être humain est un être humain ?
Est-ce qu’il y a une caractéristique essentielle que l’on peut trouver dans le texte biblique ?
Et ce matin j’aimerais voir avec vous que Dieu a créé l’homme à son image et qu’il a placé dans la création pour manifester son règne.

Ouvrez vos Bibles en Genèse 1, on ne va pas lire tout de suite mais comme ça vous l’aurez déjà prêt.
On va passer un peu plus de temps sur quelques versets, en particulier on est toujours dans cette série sur la Genèse et dans ces premiers chapitres qui posent le fondement de toute la Bible mais aussi de notre compréhension du monde.
Genèse 1, le premier chapitre qu’on a vu avec Jean-Jacques la semaine dernière, nous présente Dieu qui règne sur toute chose.
S’il y a une chose que l’on veut retenir de Genèse 1 parmi d’autres, c’est que Dieu est le roi de la création.
On l’a chanté tout à l’heure, on l’a lu tout à l’heure.
Je lis ce que David dit en 1 Chronique 29, « A toi éternel sont la grandeur, la puissance et la splendeur, l’éternité et la gloire car tout ce qui est dans le ciel et sur la terre t’appartient.
A toi éternel sont le règne et l’autorité suprême.
» Dans un psaume, il déclare « L’éternel a établi son trône dans les cieux et son règne domine sur toute chose.
» Dans la vision biblique du monde, la terre est comme un palais royal que Dieu construit et on a son trône qui est dans les cieux et le but de Dieu c’est de venir régner sur terre.
Le but de Dieu c’est le ciel sur terre, c’est que sa volonté soit faite au ciel comme sur la terre, sur la terre comme au ciel.
Et on le voit à la fin de la Bible, Dieu qui descend dans sa gloire pour régner au milieu de son peuple.
Et dès en fait les premiers versets de la Bible, on a un thème hyper important pour nous aider à comprendre le plan de Dieu.
C’est le thème du royaume de Dieu.
Et le royaume de Dieu dans la Bible c’est toujours trois choses.
Le peuple de Dieu dans le pays de Dieu sous le règne de Dieu.
Le peuple de Dieu dans le pays de Dieu sur le règne de Dieu.
Et en Genèse 1 et 2, Adam et Ève sont les prémices du peuple de Dieu, les premiers membres de la communauté du royaume de Dieu qui vivent dans le pays pour l’instant qui est le pays d’Éden et le règne de Dieu se manifeste par la parole qu’il donne à Adam et Ève.
Et le but, on va le voir, d’Adam et Ève dès les premiers versets du chapitre 1 de la, enfin, dès les premiers chapitres pardon, de la Genèse, c’est d’étendre le règne de Dieu.
C’est de sortir de ce jardin d’Éden, de descendre et de couvrir la terre, de se multiplier, de remplir la terre d’un peuple d’adorateurs.
Et on voit un point important qu’on a vu la semaine dernière, c’est que dans ce royaume, Dieu règne par sa parole.
On voit que la parole de Dieu c’est une loi, mais que c’est une parole aussi créatrice.
On l’a vu la semaine dernière que sa parole amène des nouvelles créatures à l’existence.
On voit aussi par sa parole que c’est la parole de Dieu qui maintient l’ordre dans la création et que dès que la parole de Dieu est remise en question, dès que la parole de Dieu est bafouée, on le verra en Genèse 3, l’ordre devient un désordre et l’harmonie devient chaos.
Le respect de la parole de Dieu, voilà ce qui maintient l’ordre dans son royaume.
Pour rappel, on est allé assez rapidement et on ne l’a pas vu de manière aussi structurée la semaine dernière.
Mais on voit quelque chose d’intéressant quand on s’arrête un petit peu sur les jours de la création.
Au début, on lit, regardez avec moi Genèse 1, verset 2, dans notre traduction, il dit « La terre n’était que chaos et vide ».
Dans une autre traduction, on peut lire « La terre était informe et vide ».
Et qu’est-ce que Dieu va faire pendant ces six premiers jours de la création ?
Eh bien, il va former ce qui est informe et il va remplir ce qui est vide.
Il va séparer la lumière des ténèbres, il va séparer les eaux d’en dessous et les eaux d’en dessus, il va séparer le ciel et la terre et puis pour chaque jour correspondant, il va créer le soleil, la lune et les étoiles.
Il va créer les espèces célestes, les espèces marines, il va créer les espèces terrestres et les espèces humaines.
Et à la fin, on lit « Ainsi furent achevées les cieux et la terre et toute leur armée ».
Qu’est-ce que Dieu fait dans cette première semaine de la création ?
Il vient former le monde, il vient mettre de l’ordre dans ce qui est informe et il vient remplir ce qui est vide.
Et on voit que la création de l’homme, c’est la dernière étape dans cette semaine au jour 6, pas vraiment la dernière étape, on verra il y a le jour 7.
Mais on voit qu’en termes de création, l’homme est un petit peu comme la cerise sur le gâteau, on peut même dire que le monde a été créé pour l’homme.
Le monde a été créé pour l’homme.
Et là on vient à notre texte de ce matin qui consiste en trois versets, Genèse 1, les versets 26 à 28.
« Puis Dieu dit, faisons l’homme à notre image, à notre ressemblance, qu’il domine sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel, sur le bétail, sur toute la terre et sur tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre.
Dieu créa l’homme à son image, il le créa à l’image de Dieu.
Il créa l’homme et la femme.
Dieu les bénit et leur dit, reproduisez-vous, devenez nombreux, remplissez la terre et soumettez-la.
Dominez sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel et sur tout animal qui se déplace sur la terre.
» Ces versets sont fondamentaux.
Pour nous comprendre non seulement ce qu’est l’homme, mais aussi l’œuvre de Christ, on va le voir, et notre place dans le monde.
Dans ces versets on voit plusieurs caractéristiques qui font la particularité de l’homme et qui, dès les premiers versets de la Genèse, séparent l’homme de l’animal.
D’abord on voit que l’homme est créé à l’image de Dieu, on va voir après ce que ça veut dire.
L’homme est créé à l’image de Dieu alors que les autres créatures sont faites selon leur espèce.
Et on voit que, on va le développer également, il reçoit un mandat, l’homme reçoit une mission, non seulement de se multiplier, de remplir la terre, ça c’est pas propre à l’homme, l’homme doit remplir la création mais les autres animaux devaient aussi remplir leur espace.
Mais ce qui est propre à l’homme c’est ce mandat de soumettre la terre, de dominer sur le reste de la création.
Alors l’homme est créé à l’image de Dieu, et c’est la première chose qu’on va voir ce matin, c’est que Dieu a créé l’homme à son image pour lui ressembler.
On va voir deux choses, Dieu a créé l’homme à son image pour lui ressembler et Dieu a créé l’homme à son image pour le représenter.
Premièrement Dieu a créé l’homme pour lui ressembler, à son image pour lui ressembler.
Qu’est-ce que ça veut dire ?
Ça veut dire assez simplement que l’homme rend Dieu visible.
L’homme rend Dieu visible.
Il y a un théologien qui dit « toute la création déclare la gloire de Dieu mais seulement en l’homme Dieu devient visible ».
Et c’est ce qui fait la gloire de l’homme au-dessus de la création.
Et en fait ce qui fait que votre voisin est plus glorieux que le Grand Canyon.
Alors peut-être quand vous le croisez le matin il est moins impressionnant que le Grand Canyon.
Mais quand on considère que Dieu l’a fait à son image, il n’y a aucun être humain, il n’y a aucune place sur terre, il n’y a aucun monument, il n’y a aucune manifestation naturelle qui est plus glorieuse que votre voisin parce qu’il est créé à l’image de Dieu.
Mais ça souligne, si l’image souligne la ressemblance, elle souligne aussi que l’homme n’est pas Dieu.
Il n’est que l’image de Dieu.
L’homme n’est pas Dieu, l’homme n’est pas l’original.
Et donc déclarer que l’homme n’est qu’image de Dieu, c’est départir de toutes ces religions qui pensent qu’on va devenir des dieux ou que nous sommes des petits dieux.
Nous ne sommes pas des petits dieux.
Bien que Dieu nous ait couronné de gloire, on l’a lu dans le psaume 8, nous sommes images, mais seulement images.
Des choses à noter, l’homme et la femme sont tous les deux créés à l’image de Dieu.
L’homme n’a pas plus de valeur que la femme, la femme n’a pas plus de valeur que l’homme.
Les deux ont la même valeur aux yeux de Dieu et devraient avoir la même valeur à nos yeux.
Contre une vision erronée qui voudrait élever l’un au-dessus de l’autre.
On voit également que tous les hommes sont créés à l’image de Dieu.
Tous les hommes sont créés à l’image de Dieu.
C’est cette conviction fondamentale de notre vision de l’homme qui a alimenté le combat de William Wilberforce quand il luttait devant le Parlement contre l’esclavage.
Cette conviction que tous les hommes sont créés à l’image de Dieu.
Il y a quelque chose qui nous aide aussi à comprendre ce que ça veut dire être créé à l’image de Dieu.
On le voit un peu plus tard, regardez, tournez avec moi en jeunesse 5.
Regardez, on va lire les trois premiers versets.
Voici le livre de l’histoire d’Adam.
Lorsque Dieu créa l’homme, il le fit à la ressemblance de Dieu.
Il créa l’homme et la femme et il les bénit.
Il les appela être humain lorsqu’ils furent créés.
C’est un écho direct au texte de ce matin.
À l’âge de 130 ans, Adam eut un fils à sa ressemblance, à son image et il l’appela Seth.
La première fois qu’on voit cette combinaison de mots, images et ressemblances, c’est pour parler du fils d’Adam.
Ce concept d’image est lié à la filiation.
Dans la généalogie de Luc en Luc 3, on a cette longue généalogie qui descend et qui remonte aux origines et à la fin on lit « fils d’Enos, fils de Seth, fils d’Adam, fils de Dieu ».
Adam est décrit comme le fils de Dieu.
Dans l’Épître aux Éphésiens, on lit quand Paul écrit aux Éphésiens, il dit « devenez donc les imitateurs de Dieu comme des enfants bien-aimés ».
Le concept d’être à l’image de Dieu, de ressembler à Dieu et le concept de filiation, d’être fils de Dieu est à rapprocher.
Qu’est-ce que ça veut dire d’être créé à l’image de Dieu ?
Ça veut dire être créé comme ses fils.
Tel père, tel fils.
Tel père, tel fils.
Être créé à l’image de Dieu, c’est être appelé à ressembler à celui qui nous a créé à son image.
Et quand les hommes demandent à quoi ressemble Dieu, eh bien ils devraient en avoir une image, bien qu’imparfaite, bien qu’imparfaite, mais quand même ils devraient en avoir une image en nous voyant vivre.
Nous rendons Dieu visible aux yeux du monde quand nous agissons comme lui, il agit, par notre amour, par notre justice, par notre sainteté.
Et c’est en cela que nous rendons Dieu visible aux yeux du monde, que notre vie est une déclaration de qui est Dieu.
Dans le serment sur la montagne, Jésus déclare dans ce passage bien connu « Mais moi, je vous dis, aimez vos ennemis, bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent, faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent, et priez pour ceux qui vous maltraitent et qui vous persécutent, afin que vous soyez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux, car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes.
En agissant comme Dieu agit, et particulièrement en faisant grâce comme Dieu fait grâce, nous reflétons Dieu et nous montrons au monde à quoi ressemble Dieu.
Voilà à quoi ressemble Dieu, il est celui qui fait grâce à ceux qui méritent sa colère.
Et voilà le fondement de notre témoignage.
Agir comme Dieu agit pour qu’en nous voyant, ceux qui nous entourent voient, bien sûr au milieu du bruit de notre péché, mais voient une vie qui ressemble à qui est Dieu.
Dieu nous a créé à son image pour lui ressembler, Dieu nous a créé à son image pour le représenter.
La création du monde dans cette première semaine, en fait, est comme la création d’un palais, la création d’un palais royal où Dieu va s’installer.
On va le voir un petit peu plus en détail dans deux semaines.
Ce palais est aussi un temple, Dieu vient régner pour y être adoré.
Qu’est-ce qui se passe à chaque fois qu’on construit un temple-palais ?
A l’époque, c’était la même chose, le temple dans le temple, c’était un temple royal ou un palais-temple comme vous voulez.
Qu’est-ce qui se passe dans le tabernacle ?
On construit le tabernacle et à la fin, la gloire de Dieu remplit le lieu très saint.
Le lieu très saint, c’est quoi ?
C’est le lieu où Dieu trône.
Dans la Bible, quand on lit, on lit que Dieu siège, que son trône se place entre les chérubins dans le lieu très saint.
En fait, le lieu très saint dans le tabernacle, c’est la salle du trône, c’est de là que Dieu gouverne la création.
Pareil dans le temple plus tard.
Et à chaque fois, qu’est-ce qui se passe quand le palais-temple est fini ?
Dieu vient siéger dans son temple.
C’est exactement ce qui se passe au jour 7 de la création.
Dieu vient, quand dit, se reposer.
Il n’est pas question d’un repos que ça y est, il a fini ce qu’il avait à faire.
C’est que ça y est, l’ordre est établi et il peut commencer à régner.
Dans le reste de la Bible, lorsqu’il est dit que le peuple entre dans le repos ou que Dieu a donné du repos au peuple, c’est qu’il a donné du repos au peuple de ses ennemis.
Ça y est, l’ordre est maintenu, la stabilité est maintenue et le peuple peut commencer à faire ce qu’il a à faire.
C’est exactement pareil en Genèse 1, lorsque Dieu descend au septième jour, il vient s’installer, il vient installer son trône sur terre.
Et dans ce palais, Dieu est en train de donner des fonctions à tous les éléments.
C’est un petit peu comme si le fait de former la création, il était en train de faire les pièces du palais et à chaque fois il y a des fonctionnaires dans ces pièces.
Et pour chaque élément, il y a une fonction.
Regardez avec moi les versets 16 et 17 de Genèse 1.
« Dieu fit les deux grands luminaires, le plus grand pour présider au jour et le plus petit pour présider à la nuit.
Il fit aussi les étoiles.
Dieu les plaça dans l’étendue du ciel pour éclairer la terre, pour dominer sur le jour et la nuit, pour séparer la lumière des ténèbres.
» Chaque élément a une fonction là où il est placé.
Quand le psalmiste demande « qu’est-ce que l’homme ?
», c’est le psaume qu’on a lu tout à l’heure, la réponse fait écho au texte que nous lisons ce matin.
« Qu’est-ce que l’homme pour que tu te souviennes de lui et le fils de l’homme pour que tu prennes soin de lui ?
Tu l’as fait de peu inférieur à Dieu.
Tu l’as couronné de gloire et d’honneur.
Tu lui as donné la domination sur tout ce que tes mains ont fait.
Tu as tout mis sous ses pieds.
De la même manière que les astres ont été placés dans le ciel pour dominer sur le jour et la nuit, l’homme a été placé sur la terre pour dominer sur le reste de la création.
» Voilà ce que nous voyons ce matin dans son royaume, dans sa création comme royaume, Dieu appelle l’homme à être roi de la création.
Et le vocabulaire même qui est employé pour décrire ce mandat, cette mission que Dieu donne à l’homme souligne cette mission royale.
Dans les versets 26 et 28, le verbe « dominer », le verbe « assujettir », ils sont liés à un contrôle royal.
Et en fait quand le lecteur lisait cela, les verbes qui étaient employés, c’était des verbes qui faisaient allusion au mandat royal, à la vocation des rois.
Et en fait ce n’était pas très étonnant pour le lecteur de l’époque.
Pourquoi ?
Parce qu’à l’époque, les rois se considéraient comme les représentants de Dieu.
Et qu’est-ce qu’ils faisaient ?
Ils faisaient des statues d’eux-mêmes et les plaçaient dans les pays pour représenter leur règne souverain à cet endroit-là.
Mais ça, ça ne nous est pas étrangers, n’est-ce pas ?
Quelle est la première chose qui tombe lorsqu’une dictature tombe ?
Les statues.
Pourquoi ?
Parce qu’on veut dire cet homme qui est représenté, à qui ressemble cette statue, qui le représente.
On la fait tomber, pourquoi ?
Parce qu’on ne reconnaît plus le règne de Dieu.
Et c’est exactement ce qui se passe en Genèse 3 si on réfléchit bien.
Que fait le serpent ?
Le serpent veut faire tomber celui qui ressemble et qui représente le règne de Dieu.
En s’attaquant à l’homme, le serpent est en train de vouloir faire tomber l’homme qui représente le règne de Dieu sur terre.
Il y a une différence entre ces rois de l’époque qui mettaient des statues d’eux dans leur royaume pour leur ressembler, les représenter, représenter leur règne.
C’est qu’ici, c’est toute l’humanité, les hommes et les femmes qui sont créés à l’image de Dieu.
A l’époque, il n’y avait que le roi qui pouvait se prétendre être image de Dieu et représenter Dieu sur terre.
Le reste de la création dit non, ce sont tous les hommes, hommes et femmes qui représentent Dieu, ce sont tous les hommes, hommes et femmes sans distinction que Dieu appelle à régner sur terre en tant que vice-roi.
Donc on peut dire qu’en le faisant à son image, Dieu a placé l’homme pour lui ressembler, le refléter par son caractère et ses œuvres.
Problème, on l’a dit en jeunesse 3, Dieu fait tomber, pour ainsi dire l’homme, il fait tomber l’homme et l’image est déformée, j’aime bien cette expression d’Henri Blocher, l’image est devenue caricature.
Et donc elle continue à ressembler à celui qu’elle représente mais ses traits ne sont plus fidèles.
Mais l’homme reste à l’image de Dieu et qu’est-ce qu’on voit avec la sortie de l’arche de Noé quand Dieu veut établir une nouvelle création, quand Dieu veut repartir de zéro, et bien Dieu réétablit la validité de l’image de Dieu en l’homme.
Je vous lis dans jeunesse 9, si quelqu’un verse le sang de l’homme par l’homme, son sang sera versé car Dieu a fait l’homme à son image.
Même après la chute, l’homme reste à l’image de Dieu et vous soyez fécond et multiplié, répandez-vous sur la terre et multipliez sur terre.
Un peu plus tard, c’est tout Israël, on lit au début du livre de l’Exode, c’est tout Israël qui est appelé mon fils par Dieu, mon fils.
Et après la sortie d’Égypte, c’est tout le peuple qui est appelé à le représenter, encore une fois comme une nouvelle création, encore une fois le peuple passe par les eaux du jugement et traverse le jugement de Dieu à la mer des roseaux.
Et Dieu veut commencer une nouvelle création avec ce nouveau peuple et qu’est-ce qu’il leur dit, exode 19, vous serez pour moi un royaume de prêtres et une nation sainte, un royaume de prêtres et une nation sainte de deux idées très importantes, des rois et des prêtres.
Comme Adam et Ève, le peuple devait être ambassadeur du règne bienveillant de Dieu sur terre, comment ?
Après exode 19, exode 20, en obéissant aux paroles de son alliance.
Par leur obéissance à la loi, les Israélites devaient démontrer au reste du monde à quoi ressemble le fait de vivre sous son règne et finalement à quoi ressemble Dieu.
Il est ce Dieu de justice, de paix, d’amour.
Et c’est ce que nous proclamons à chaque fois que nous obéissons à sa parole.
Et finalement on arrive au Nouveau Testament et on se rend compte que le vrai Fils est enfin arrivé.
On lit dans Hébreux 1 et 2, on lit que Jésus est le Fils, Jésus est ce vrai Fils qui ressemble parfaitement au Père.
Je vous lis, Dieu dans ses derniers temps nous a parlé par le Fils qu’il a établi, héritier de toutes choses, par lequel il a aussi créé le monde et qui étant le reflet de sa gloire et l’empreinte de sa personne, il soutient toutes choses par sa parole puissante.
Il est le vrai Fils, il ressemble parfaitement au Père et il est celui qui le représente et représente son règne parfaitement.
Un petit peu plus loin au chapitre 2 d’Hébreux, on lit, en effet ce n’est pas à des anges que Dieu a soumis le monde à venir dont nous parlons, or quelqu’un a rendu quelque part ce témoignage et il cite le psaume 8.
Qu’est-ce que l’homme pour que tu te souviennes de lui ou le fils de l’homme pour que tu prennes soin de lui ?
Tu l’as abaissé pour un peu de temps en dessous des anges, tu l’as couronné de gloire et d’honneur, tu as mis toutes choses sous ses pieds.
Et là il applique ce psaume à Jésus, en effet en lui soumettant toutes choses.
Dieu n’a rien laissé qui ne lui fut soumis, cependant nous ne voyons pas encore maintenant que toutes choses lui soient soumises.
Voilà la réalité merveilleuse, notre réalité merveilleuse ce matin.
Voilà ce qui nous concerne chacun et chacune, nous qui sommes en Christ.
En Christ, nous pouvons ressembler à Dieu.
En Christ, le peuple racheté se conforme progressivement à l’image de Dieu déformée par la chute.
On peut dire que le travail de Dieu dans notre vie c’est de nous conformer toujours plus à son image.
Comment ?
En nous faisant ressembler toujours plus à son fils qui est son reflet parfait, qui est l’empreinte de sa personne.
Qu’est-ce que Dieu veut faire avec moi aujourd’hui ?
Qu’est-ce que Dieu veut faire avec vous aujourd’hui ?
Quel est le plan de Dieu pour votre vie ?
De vous faire ressembler à Christ.
Pour que les fils et les filles du Père ressemblent, reflètent de plus en plus qui est Dieu.
Nous tous, dit Paul, qui le visage dévoilé reflétons comme un miroir la gloire du Seigneur, nous sommes transformés en la même image de gloire en gloire comme par le Seigneur, l’Esprit.
On l’a lu tout à l’heure, l’Église est appelée à imiter Dieu comme ses enfants bien-aimés.
Et en fait, en faisant cela, nous retrouvons la vocation d’Adam qui était de refléter Dieu.
Ce n’est pas quelque chose de nouveau quand le Nouveau Testament nous appelle à ressembler à Dieu.
C’est en fait, voilà ce que ça veut dire d’être humain.
Voilà ce que ça veut dire d’être vraiment humain.
Nous pouvons ressembler à Dieu en Christ, nous pouvons représenter Dieu en Christ.
Et ce n’est pas pour rien que dans le Nouveau Testament, assez rapidement, les chrétiens ont été appelés des petits Christ.
Pourquoi ?
Parce que leur volonté, c’était de ressembler à Christ.
L’Église est cette nouvelle image, est la meilleure image de cette nouvelle société voulue par Dieu.
Écoutez là ce que Pierre cite en l’appliquant à des chrétiens.
En fait, il cite le texte d’Exode que Dieu avait donné au peuple après la sortie d’Égypte.
« Vous, au contraire, » Pierre dit aux chrétiens, « vous, au contraire, vous êtes une race élue, un sacerdoce royal » un sacerdoce royal, c’est des prêtres rois.
« Une nation sainte, un peuple acquis, afin que vous annonciez les vertus de celui qui vous a appelé des ténèbres à son admirable lumière.
» Quand on se soumet au règne de Dieu, quand on obéit à sa parole, en fait on est en train non seulement d’accomplir notre vocation de chrétien, mais finalement de retrouver notre vocation d’être humain, être les ambassadeurs du règne de Dieu sur terre.
Voilà ce que ça veut dire d’être humain.
C’est de ressembler à Dieu et de représenter Dieu et son règne sur terre.
Il n’y a qu’en étant soumis à Dieu que nous retrouvons notre vraie place d’être humain.
Et ça c’est un message fort dans notre société.
On l’a vu, l’homme tente de se redéfinir et tente de rebattre des cartes qui, jusqu’il y a quelques dizaines d’années, avaient toujours été les mêmes depuis la création du monde.
Et tant que l’homme voudra se définir lui-même, il ne trouvera pas sa vraie identité.
Tant qu’il s’efforcera de vouloir trouver en lui-même ce qu’il est, il ne trouvera pas sa vraie place.
Il n’y a qu’en Christ que nous pouvons être vraiment ce que nous sommes.
Il n’y a que Christ, par la puissance de l’Esprit de Dieu, qui nous montre ce que c’est d’être humain.
Il n’y a que Christ qui peut répondre à la question « qui suis-je ?
Qu’est-ce que je fais sur terre ?
» Il n’y a que Christ qui peut résoudre ces crises d’identité, ces crises intérieures qui parfois nous tourmentent et nous déchirent.
Quand nous ne savons plus qui nous sommes ni ce que nous faisons sur terre, regardons à la vérité de l’Évangile.
Et ceux qui vivent avec Christ comme Seigneur savent ce qu’ils font et savent qui ils sont.
Ils sont fils de Dieu, créés à son image.
Ils ont été créés pour manifester et étendre le règne bienveillant de Dieu, pour ressembler et refléter le roi de gloire qui nous appelle à son service.
Dieu nous a créés à son image, nous a placés dans la création pour manifester son règne.
Non seulement c’est la vocation que Dieu nous a donnée à l’origine, mais c’est aussi la vocation que nous exercerons pleinement au ciel.
Je lis dans 2 Timothée 2 « Cette parole est certaine, si nous sommes morts avec lui, nous vivrons aussi avec lui, si nous persévérons, nous régnerons aussi avec lui.
Et dans l’Apocalypse, tu as fait deux des rois et des prêtres pour notre Dieu et ils régneront sur la terre.
» Et en fait, ce que nous faisons aujourd’hui, en vivant en chrétien, en vivant comme Christ a vécu, nous sommes en train de continuer à former la création en conformité à la parole de Dieu.
Voilà notre tâche royale et voilà ce que ça veut dire d’être des rois de la création.
Continuer à modeler le monde, à former le monde pour qu’il ressemble plus au ciel où Dieu règne.
Comment ?
D’abord dans nos foyers.
Nos foyers sont comme un microcosme, un petit monde, un petit royaume où Dieu doit régner.
Et lorsque nous invitons nos amis, notre famille, nos voisins à rentrer dans notre foyer, voilà ce dont ils doivent faire l’expérience.
L’expérience d’un royaume où Dieu règne, où l’harmonie, la paix, la justice et la joie reflètent que nous vivons en être humain sous le regard de Dieu.
Voilà ce que nous voulons vivre en Église, la manifestation du royaume de Dieu en avant-goût du royaume à venir.
Lorsque autour du mont, autour de nous, et je dis autour de nous, ce n’est pas autour du bâtiment, c’est autour de l’Église, de nous, autour de nous, le monde n’est que chaos, désordre, désharmonie, guerre.
L’Église non seulement offre une image, mais offre aussi l’expérience, fait goûter, vivre dans l’Église, fait goûter non seulement à quoi ça ressemble d’être humain, mais aussi cette joie, cette paix, cette grâce, cette justice que Dieu offre et que nous voulons vivre, dont nous voulons témoigner, mais aussi que nous voulons manifester au peuple qui nous entoure.
Et enfin, dans le monde, dans notre travail, dans nos études, dans ce qui nous occupe la journée, auprès de ceux que Dieu a placés à côté de nous, nous voulons refléter que Dieu est roi parce que nous sommes, par notre attitude, par notre caractère qui est conforme à celui de Christ, mais aussi parce que nous faisons, la manière dont nous le faisons.
Et chaque petit acte que nous faisons chaque jour est en fait un pas de plus pour modeler le monde, pour qu’il ressemble au monde tel qu’il devait être et qu’il anticipe le monde tel qu’il sera.
Si on réfléchit, qu’est-ce que nous faisons chaque jour ?
Qu’est-ce que chaque être humain fait chaque jour ?
Il est en train de modeler le monde pour qu’il ressemble un petit peu plus à ce qu’il estime être ce que devrait être le monde.
Chaque jour, par tout ce que nous faisons, on est en train de dire voilà à quoi devrait ressembler le monde.
Et nous, que faisons-nous ?
Et quel monde est-on en train de construire ?
Est-ce qu’on est en train de construire un monde où Dieu règne, qui manifeste son harmonie, sa paix et sa justice et son amour ?
Ou est-ce qu’on est en train de construire notre propre royaume où nous régnons et où nous servons nos propres intérêts ?
Ou est-ce qu’on est en train de construire un royaume où nous servons les intérêts du roi et de ceux que Dieu a placés auprès de nous pour que nous les bénissions ?
Voilà en fait ce qui détermine la qualité de ce que nous faisons.
Est-ce que nous le faisons pour le roi ?
Nous sommes en train de modeler le monde pour qu’il ressemble un petit peu plus et qu’il anticipe et annonce le royaume à venir.
Voilà la tâche que Dieu nous donne en tant que vice-roi dans sa création.

Père Céleste, quelle glorieuse réalité !
Cette glorieuse réalité, nous ne voulons pas la prendre comme un titre, mais comme une responsabilité que tu nous confies.
Et nous voulons prendre cette responsabilité comme venant de toi, ne pas nous en défausser, mais marcher avec confiance en ayant l’assurance que ce que tu nous ordonnes, tu nous rends capables de l’accomplir et que par ton esprit tu es en train progressivement de nous conformer toujours plus à l’image de ton fils.
Par ton esprit, tu nous rends toujours plus capables de conformer le monde dans notre famille, dans l’Église et dans la société à ce qu’il devrait être.
Aide-nous Seigneur, s’il te plaît, chaque jour, dans chaque interaction, à être des représentants de qui tu es, de te ressembler fidèlement et à faire des choses qui t’honorent et qui annoncent ton règne.
Merci pour cette responsabilité que tu nous donnes.
Garde-nous à la fois dans l’humilité, mais aussi dans la confiance que tu nous accompagnes dans ce mandat pour ta gloire.
